Half of the plate should be filled with vegetables and fruits. Choose a variety of colours; red, orange, yellow and dark green to make your food look more appetizing.
One fourth of the plate should be filled with carbohydrates. Preferably, choose carbohydrates that are whole (brown) grains and try to avoid refined (white) grains.
The remaining one fourth of the plate should be filled with protein. Fish, poultry, meat and legumes are ideal sources of protein.
Remember to drink enough water too! Plain water is the best choice. Avoid sugary drinks and alcohol.
